Week two of sit-in begins for Highway6
Employees at the Highway Retail-run Texaco garage in Ballyvolane are facing into week two of their sit-in this morning. Six staff began their campaign last Tuesday when two company directors arrived on-sit without notice to shut the premises, and although they received some entitlements such as their wages they're still awaiting redundancy payment. Over the weekend they say they received an email in their personal gmail accounts from one of the Highway Retail directors which stated that a new company was to take over the premises and as their employment would be transferred they were eligible for redundancy payment. However staff say they're still entitled to redundancy as they were issued with P45s last week. AUDIO: Store manager Deirdre Cregan has been telling RedFM News why they feel they're still entitled to redundancy and she says they don't appreciate being sent such important correspondence via personal email addresses.
