The West Cork Women Against Violence project  handled over 1200 calls to their helpline last year and they say they are struggling to cope with the pressure on their service... 

The group say they urgently require a regional emergency shelter and need to secure funding so that their crisis support service can extend their opening hours...

Speaking to RedFM News Marie Mulholland from the West Cork Against Violence project says the lack of gardai on the ground can heighten the sense of isolation for women who live in abusive relationships.
