Wives and partners of Cork Defence Force members to travel to Newbridge tomorrow to mount protest

They're to take part in a protest march to highlight the pay and conditions of their loved ones

Members of the Defence Forces are not permitted to protest and two months ago their wives and partners mounted similar demonstrations outside barracks across the country including Colllins Barracks and Haulbowline Naval Base.

The group say at least one in four enlisted personnel are on Family Income Supplement and they say the wages are disrespectful given the nature of their partner's jobs.

Shelley Cotter from Cork has been protesting with the group on behalf of her husband and son who are both in the navy.

Speaking to RedFM News she says people are struggling to make ends meet.
