Woman Whose Brother Died At Bessborough Has Just Found Out That He Is Buried In A Famine Grave

Carmel Cantwell's family was told that Baby William was buried in the grounds of Bessborough when he died in 1960

That's Carmel Cantwell whose brother William was just six weeks old when he died at Bessborough in December 1960

The family were told that little William was buried in the grounds of the Blackrock mother and baby home but yesterday it emerged through the Commision of Investigation that his final resting place is at Famine Grave at Carrs Hill

Carmel says the revelation has come as a huge shock and has caused great distress and pain to her mother

She is now urging the Children's Minister to leave no stone unturned in tracing the whereabouts of the 800 unaccounted children who died at Bessborough

The fifth interim report published by the Commission of Investigation into mother and baby homes says it's hard to understand how no member of the congregation  was able to say where the children are buried

Speaking to RedFM News Carmel says Minister Katherine Zappone has a duty of care and an obligation to find out where these children are buried
