Work On €100 Million Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Could Be Halted
Work on the €100 million Dunkettle interchange upgrade could be halted over spiralling costs, with fears the project could cost up to €170 million.
The Irish Examiner reports that documents from the end of June show the cost of the project jumped to €115 and reveals that "there are areas of significant differences with the contractor in relation to pricing rates submitted".
Director of capital programmes at Transport Infrastructure Ireland Peter Walsh wrote that the project could be delayed by 12 to 18 months if the current contractors Sisk cannot agree on a price.
The Dunkettle interchange has been operating above capacity in recent years with up to 100,000 vehicles using it daily
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork property developer Michael O'Flynn says the project is vital for the future of Cork
