Works to change the layout of Cork city's roads to begin within weeks

Works are to begin on the first phase of Cork's City Centre Movement Strategy in the coming weeks.
The first change is to reverse the traffic flow on Castle Street from its current westbound flow, to an eastbound flow.
Over the next fortnight motorists can expect diversions to the city's quays, as well as Daunt Square, Castle St and Liberty Street.
The City Council's strategy includes the partial ban of private traffic on Patrick Street, but engineers say preparatory works will take up to 12 months before this will become a reality.
A report from the Council says later stages of the plans also include reverting MacCurtain Street to a two way system.
