Youghal Father Who Repeatedly Raped Daughter Loses Appeal

Jerry O’Keefe repeatedly raped his daughter during the 1980s in their family home in Youghal.
A man who repeatedly raped his daughter during the 1980s in their family home in Youghal has lost an appeal against his ten year sentence.
Jerry O’Keefe, a 68-year-old retired soldier, also abused the victim's younger sister, and forced her to withdraw a complaint she made when she was 16.
The Court of Appeal held that the totality of his prison sentence could not be considered to be too high, and said it was "very lenient", if anything.
His eldest daughter Amy spoke of their relief outside court afterwards.
