Youghal Traders Hopeful IronMan 2021 Will Proceed

The event was first held in the East Cork town back in 2019 and locals say it brought a huge boost to the area as well as firmly placing Youghal on the international tourism agenda

The triathlon was cancelled last year but plans still remain in place for the sold-out event this summer which is scheduled to take place on August 14th and 15th.

Paul McElduff has been operating a 'The Wagon' coffee stall on the Front Strand and he says despite the ongoing pandemic there is a lot to look forward to in the town in the coming months:

"That's the plan for the town. They've done a great job of extending the boardwalk, you know. We have the Greenway coming, we will have Iron Man in the summer please God, so there there's a lot to be positive about in Youghal. It is something that we've noticed over the last few months, like the number of people walking along the strand here and enjoying the facilities and the natural beauty of the area, which is always great to see."
