Young boy recovering in hospital after being stuck by car in the city

It happened at St John's Well on the Commons Road last Friday.

A young boy is recovering at Cork University Hospital after he was struck by a car at St John's Well on the Commons Road last Friday. 

The four year old is understood to have been running away from a wasp at the time of the incident when he ran out onto the road and was hit by a car.

Gardaí say he was dragged 17 metres by the vehicle. 

He sustained a number of breaks to one leg and superficial head injuries and was taken to the CUH where he is said to be improving.
