Young boy urgently evacuated from Cape Clear Island

The alarm was raised shortly after half 9 this morning.

A young boy is receiving treatment in West Cork after being urgently evacuated from Cape Clear Island.

The alarm was raised shortly after half 9 this morning and the Baltimore RNLI was launched within minutes of the call despite poor weather conditions and against a swell of 3 metres and force 6-7 northwest winds.

The boy was stretchered aboard the lifeboat and monitored from there until he reached Skibbereen for medical treatment.
