Young People Worst Affected By Substantial Backlog In Theory And Driving Tests

Of the over 101,000 people awaiting driving tests at the moment, 55,000 are under the age of 30
Speaking to RedFM News, Peter Horgan, a local representative for the Labour Party in Cork City says public transport is insufficient to meet the requirements of young people in many parts of Cork:
"Over 101,000 people nationally are awaiting the Driving Test. 55,000 of which are under the age of 30. It's very much impacting on younger people, those younger people, who are applicants for Theory Testing and for Driving Tests, in areas where they're not served by public transport. But if you're living in somewhere like Dublin City Centre, you have certain amounts of public transport capabilities with you at the moment; but if you're living in North Cork or East Cork or West Cork, or even in South Cork, there's not a regular public transport service that you can rely on with capacity levels at the moment."
