Covid-19 Evening Update

The latest developments on COVID19 today.

  • The Taoiseach insists the country remains 'on track' for the widespread easing of restrictions in the coming weeks.

    Nationwide travel will be allowed from next Monday, while all retail outlets can fully reopen seven days later. 

  • Lidl will begin selling a range of Covid-19 antigen tests from tomorrow.

    A pack of five will be available, with a limit of five packs per person allowed.

  • The INMO says nurses should be given a ten day break from work when the pandemic passes.

    The organisation claims nurses are exhausted after putting in an extraordinary effort over the last year.

  • A Cork cardiology consultant says people need to be very cautious as restrictions are lifted. 

    Professor Carl Vaughan is part of team who helped Cork-based Advanced Medical Services to develop a programme to identify people who are at risk of developing heart disease in the wake of the pandemic.
