Fall off in crime during pandemic

With more people staying at home and an increase in Garda patrols during the Coronavirus crisis, there's been a fall off in crime.

It's believed to be happening right across the country, while one Garda division in the Dublin area went nine days without a single burglary being reported.

Special Correspondent for the Irish Independent, Paul Williams, says its unprecedented.

"On average there about 160-200 burglaries reported every week across the greater Dublin area - that's across the six Garda divisions in the Dublin metropolitan region.

"Last Friday a record was set when absolutely no burglaries, zero burglaries were recorded in the entire Dublin area.

"Gardai are telling me everywhere they've never seen anything like it."
