Irish officials to examine new advice on the Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine
Irish officials will examine new advice on the Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine in the next day or so.
The European Medicines Agency said today that there is a possible link between the jab and blood clots.
But it said this is extremely rare, and the benefits of taking the vaccine far outweigh the risks.
Karina Butler, the chair of the National Immunisation Advisory Committee, says Ireland will now decide on the use of the vaccine: "This is breaking news, and no doubt we will be looking at the detail of that over the next day or so, and there is additional information that we anticipate that will be coming out this week as the AMA, are looking at these events and trying to refine the information that's been given to us, perhaps more detail in terms of age related risks.
