Online booking portal for hotel quarantine now live

The Health Minister says Britain isn’t on the list of countries for mandatory quarantine as the UK variant of Covid-19 is already the dominant strain here. 

An online booking portal for hotel quarantine is now available for 33 countries.

People arriving from these countries will have to stay in a hotel for 12 nights from this Friday.

Stephen Donnelly believes it’s the most comprehensive system in the EU.

"Ireland is the first country in the EU to bring anything at this level.

"It's now the most comprehensive system of hotel quarantine anywhere in the European Union by a long way.

"Very importantly it means the UK and Ireland are now very closely aligned on this, and this is very important. Ireland and the UK now have some of the lowest Covid rates anywhere in Europe."
