Over 200,000 people download Covid tracker app

The Health Minister is hoping there's as much uptake as possible for the new Covid tracker app.

The HSE app, which is now live, lets people see if they've been in close contact with someone with Covid-19.

More than 200,000 people have downloaded it so far.

Stephen Donnelly is happy with the uptake.

"It seems to be going really well - when I got in the car this morning it was 50,000, I've just been told it's nearly 100,000.

"Every single person that downloads this app makes Ireland safer.

"We've had a lot of bad news days on Covid, we've had so much loss of life, so it's rare to have a good news day on Covid.

"This is a good news day."
