Retailers could introduce temperature checks for staff and customers
Retailers may introduce temperature checks for staff and shoppers when they're allowed reopen.
According to The Irish Times, they're also considering banning price promotions to prevent a rush of customers.
Retail Excellence says shops should also consider barring the use of trolleys and insist on card payments for a period.
Professor Anthony Staines, from DCU's school of nursing, says temperature checks mightn't be a very effective measure in shops.
"It can give you a false sense of security if you don't have a temperature.
"The evidence for travellers is that there's no point in taking temperatures, but it can send a message to everybody that you take this seriously.
"There's lots of reasons why people take temperatures - the vast majority of people with a temperature this morning do not have Covid-19."
