AUDIO: Heffernan Reacts After Winning Team Bronze for Ireland

The Irish team return from the European Race Walking Cup in the Czech Republic today having earned an historic bronze medal in the Mens 20K on Sunday.

Cork Racewalkers Rob Heffernan (Togher AC) and Alex Wright (Leevale AC) along with Cian McManamon from Wesport won a first medal for the international team at the biannual event.

Wright led the team home in 6th in 1:21:48 with Heffernan 13th in 1:22:40 and McManamon 26th in 1:24:03.

Spain and Germany took the Gold and Silver medals.

Earlier in the day Brendan Boyce of Finn Valley was an agonising fourth in the 50km race walk in 3:49:49
