UCC are through to the Cork Senior Hurling Championship quarter finals after beating Midleton by two points at Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday evening.
The sides were level on twelve occasions in this game with the Students enjoying the half time advantage at 1-11 to 1-08.
Midleton brought themselves straight back into contention on the resumption with three points in two minutes to draw level, while three pointed frees from Conor Lehane in a six minute spell put the Magpies two clear after forty four minutes.
UCC again took the lead on the board, before Midleton pulled it back and two points from Luke O'Farrell approaching the hour mark looked to put the 2013 Champions through.
In another twist however, the quality in the UCC team combined well and work impressive scores with finishes from Cork and Waterford Inter-county talents Mark Coleman, Colm Spillane, Jamie Barron and Darragh Fitzgibbon, the final four scores in additional time left it 1-22 to 1-20.
UCC now advance to play Sarsfields in the quarter finals next week.
