Ballyhea Boss Calls For Review Of Championship Structure
3 Month Gap Between Round 1 and Round 4
Ballyhea boss Clem Smith has called for a review of the Senior Hurling Championship structure.
The North Cork side were beaten by Imokilly in their round four clash in Kilworth last night.
Smith's side last played in the championship on May 17th when they beat Blackrock in round one, and he says the structure needs to change.
"It's madness, to be honest. They need to have a serious look at the structure of the championship.
"To leave guys idle since the middle of May when we last played, it's very hard to get motivated, it's very hard to keep training. As coaches it's very hard to keep it fresh.
"The [RedFM Senior Hurling] League is good, it's well structured.
"But it's no comparison to the championship, and they seriously have to look at it.
"No player should be left idle for nearly four months".
