Burnley FC condemns "white lives matter" banner
Burnley Football Club says it "strongly condemns" those behind a 'white lives matter' banner.
It was seen being towed by an aircraft over the Etihad Stadium prior to last night's match against Manchester City.
The plane circled over the field as both teams took to the knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement shortly before kick off.
Burnley captain Ben Mee says the banner is an embarrassment to the club.
"I'm ashamed, I'm embarrassed that our fans decided to put that around the stadium.
"I think these people need to come into the 21st century and educate themselves, it does not represent what we're about, what the club's about, what the players are about, and what the majority of the fans are about."
