City Boss John Caulfield on Friday Night Barclays Premier League Games

Aston Villa v Man United clashes with Cork City v Limerick this week

Cork City boss John Caulfield doesn't think Friday's game in the Barclays Premier League will have too much of an effect on the attendance at Turner's Cross.

This week sees the first ever televised Friday night Premier League game, as Aston Villa host Manchester United.

The game was moved from Saturday due to an English Defence League march in Birmingham due to take place that day.

It's the only game this season that will take place on a Friday night, however ten Friday games are scheduled for the 2016/17 campaign.

When asked about this week's fixture clash and the effect it could have on numbers coming through the gate for their Munster derby with Limerick, Caulfield didn't think it would be an issue.

"I think our own supporters know the league run in is on, and we need to be in the ground. And while the [Villa v United] game is on TV, I still feel we'll have a big crowd on Friday night".

The Rebel Army boss though does admit that with ten Friday night games next season, there will be an impact.

"Going forward, you'll have to say that there'll be certain games that will affect your crowd. And you're then going to have to look at that. But the one thing that we have is a strong support, and I think we'll have a big crowd on Friday".
