Cork boss McCarthy shrugs off criticism

Cork football boss Ronan McCarthy says he's not letting criticism affect him.

The Rebels picked up their first win of their Allianz Football League campaign on Saturday night, as the Rebels defeated Tipperary in Thurles.

The result gives them a fighting chance of avoiding relegation to Division 3.

McCarthy has come in for some fierce criticism following Cork's poor start to the league, including at last week's County Board meeting.

However the Cork boss is taking it all in his stride.

"Look, there's not a lot I can do about it", McCarthy told RedFM's Big Red Bench yesterday.

"It's easy to make a suggestion when you don't have to make a decision, and there's a lot of that out there.

"I've used the word previously, and I'll use it again - there's a lot of people who are ignorant of what's going on, of the work that's being done, the effort that's being made.

"But it's part and parcel of it. It's never right - it seems to have become acceptable. 

"To be honest, you just put that to the side. You concentrate on what we can control and that's preparing the team, and we'll do the same as we have done for the game against Donegal."
