Cork City 2-3 Limerick FC

(Click PLAY above to hear the reaction of Cork City boss Tommy Dunne) Limerick FC left Turner's Cross with all three points this afternoon, despite Cork City turning in their best performance in some time. The Rebel Army went ahead when Denis Behan slotted home when one on one with the Limerick keeper, however the Shannonsiders went 2-1 in front with two set pieces just 90 seconds apart, City failing to deal with free kicks launched into the box. Tommy Dunne's side were reduced to ten men when Darren Dennehy was harshly sent off just before half time, Dennehy going in high after losing possesion. A yellow card may have sufficed, however the referee instantly went to his back pocket, and actually dropped the red card before showing it to Dennehy, such was his desire to brandish the card as quickly as possible without even thinking the incident through. City to their credit dug deep and forged an equaliser ten minutes after the restart, the excellent Danny Morrissey finding Shane Duggan with a cross from the left hand side, which the City midfielder headed hom from 6 yards. It was a case of de-ja vu for Limerick's winner, a free kick launched into the box that the City defence didn't deal with once again, and David O'Leary slotted home. To be truthful it was City's best 90 minutes in quite a while, and they deserved something from the game. They head to Dalymount Park for a meeting with Bohemians.
