Cork Nominees for Prestigious Sailing Annual Awards
The Irish Sailing Association (ISA) has revealed that a total of eight nominees from County Cork have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious ISA Annual Awards. The winners will be announced at the ISA 8th Annual Awards Ball in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin on the 1st of March. Crosshaven sailor David Kenefick has been nominated for the premier accolade of the Irish sailing community; the ISA Sailor of the Year award, kindly supported by MGM Boats. David will go head-to-head against another equally deserving nominee; Philip Bendon(far right) who grew up in Glandore before moving to Cape Town. 18 year old Fionn Lyden from Baltimore has risen through the ranks of the ISA Performance Pathway Programme. He was nominated in the Youth Sailor of the Year category. Kinsale Yacht Club is nominated for the ISA Mitsubishi Motors Club of the Year Award The Instructor of the Year award has a total of five nominees with Emma Hett representing Cork club the Royal Cork Yacht Club. The final nominees from Cork, and there are three, are the Fastnet Marine OEC in Schull(Below), Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven and The Oysterhaven Centre in Kinsale(Below x 2) which will all be competing for the title of ISA Training Centre of the Year.
