County Board appeal to fans not to turn up to games without a ticket

Cork County Board chairperson Tracey Kennedy has appealed to supporters not to turn up to games this weekend without a ticket.

The Cork football championships get underway this weekend, however the current government guidelines say that no more than 200 people can attend out door events.

It means just 80 tickets are available to supporters, which will be distributed to equally between the two clubs of each game.

"We were expecting crowds to be going to 500 ahead of this weekend's games, that was the reason we didn't avail of the first weekend we could have because we were conscious that so many people wouldn't be able to see our games", Kennedy told RedFM Sport.

"It was a big blow, we were gearing up for 500 so it's disappointing that we have to stay at 200, especially when we feel that we could accommodate our supporters very safely.

"But that is the situation that pertains now, and we have put in place a ticketing system, and I really do want to stress to people - do not turn up at a match without a ticket.

"That just puts pressure on the people on the gate who would have to turn you away.

"Our matches are all ticket, and there are no tickets for sale at any venues."

The Bons Secours Cork Premier Senior Football Championship gets underway tomorrow night as reigning county champions Nemo Rangers take on Valley Rovers in Cloughduv, while St Finbarr's face Ballincollig in Páirc Uí Rinn, both are at 7,30.

Elsewhere in the Senior A championship Clyda Rovers face Bandon in Ballyanley, and in the Intermediate A Football Championship Glanmire face Kilshannig in Blarney, while Aghabullogue take on Kildorrery in Mallow, all starting at 7.30
