Interview: Cork City's Latest Signing Dave Mulcahy

Dave Mulcahy has expressed his delight at signing for Cork City. The Kilkenny native, who can play in defence or midfield, spent eight months with the club in 2008 before his contract was terminated for refusing to take his place on the substitutes bench in a league match. Mulcahy has explained his exit under Alan Matthews, and explains his attraction to the club this time around. Click PLAY above to hear the interview. In a statement released by Cork City FC announcing the signing, City boss John Caulfield hailed Mulcahy’s professionalism and experience, which he said would be important for the squad in 2015: “He’s one of those players in the league that I have always admired; a guy with a tremendous attitude and great experience. He’s really hungry, he knows he has not got many seasons left and, when I met him, he was absolutely thrilled with the opportunity to come to Cork.”  “He offers us huge choices, as he can play across the back four and across midfield. Every game he played against us last season for Bohemians he caused us problems from set pieces, and he ran the show for them in the two cup games.”  “While we have a few experienced players in the team, you can’t beat experience and a fantastic attitude, and I think Dave will bring that to us. The more good, honest, dedicated professionals you have, giving the right example to the younger players, you can’t go wrong.”
