Manchester City kicked off the resumption of the Premier League season behind closed doors with a 3-0 defeat of Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
Gunners defender David Luiz was sent off as City won comfortably through goals by Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.
Eric Garcia suffered a nasty injury in a collison with his own keeper Ederson, while Mesut Ozil was left out of the Arsenal squad.
The result means Liverpool cannot win the title against Everton on Sunday night.
Luiz was at fault for the first goal and his professional foul led to De Bruyne's penalty being converted.
The Brazilian has held his hands up for his errors.
Meanwhile The goalless draw between Aston Villa and Sheffield United was overshadowed by the incorrect decision of Hawk Eye technology not to award a goal to Sheffield United after the ball clearly crossed the line.
All players and officials in both games took a knee in support of 'Black Lives Matter'.
