Rebels prepare for Dublin qualifier

Cork boss Kieran Kingston will be hoping for a much improved performance from his side this weekend.

The Rebels face Dublin in their All Ireland Hurling Championship round 1 qualifier in Semple Stadium in Thurles on Saturday afternoon, where there's a 3.45 throw in.

Cork were  beaten by Waterford in the Munster Championship Quarter final last weekend, the Déise winning 1-28 to 1-24.

And Rebels boss Kieran Kingston says they just didn't perform against Waterford.

"I certainly thought we were going well enough in training. But on today, we didn't bring the performance in training on to the pitch today. Over the course of 70 odd minutes we didn't deserve to win the game.

"From our perspective we have a game under our belt, we have to regroup and see what we can learn from today.

"We're better than we showed today, no question about that."

"We can lament and drown our sorrows, but we got to turn this around as quick as we can. We have to congratulate Waterford they were better on the day, and we have to take the learnings from this."

When asked after the defeat to Waterford if he'd rather be out straight away or get a bye into round 2, Kingston said there were pros and cons to both.

"Well in a way yes, but in another way you have to look at the injuries. We'd like to get another few guys back in contention. We have four or five there that we'd like another bit of time with."
