Shane Kingston expecting competitive All Ireland championship

Cork's Shane Kingston says winning the Liam McCarthy wouldn't be any less special in this year's condensed All-Ireland Hurling Championship. 

A straight knock-out format is likely when games get underway in October. 

U-C-C student Kingston is expecting it to be competitive.

"It's only a puck of a ball really between the top five or six teams.

"If you look at it, Limerick when they beat us, we were six up, then they went on and won the All Ireland.

"It's all on the day really, you kinda need that little bit of luck and you need to be on your toes.

"Usually a lot of the games are one or two point margins, there's usually very little between the top few teams."

Meanwhile Cork G-A-A are considering streaming club championship games.

They say a subgroup will look at the idea which could allow those who cannot attend to watch the matches.

The County Executive met last night to discuss formats for this year’s club championships.

While the preference remains for a group stage championship, a final decision won’t be made until the CCCC reveal formats for the inter-county championships.
