David Oliver Joyce came up just short at the Olympics last night.

The 29 year old was beaten by the second seed Albert Selimov in the 60kg last 16 by unanimous decision - Joyce though gave it his all in a cracking contest.

Michael O'Reilly created the headlines last night when it was confirmed by the Olympic Council of Ireland that he is "no longer contesting" his provisional suspension.

The middleweight will no longer compete at the Rio Olympics after failing a doping test before arriving in Brazil.

The 23-year-old has already apologised to his team-mates and his supporters after admitting to taking a supplement that may have contained a banned substance.

Bernard Dunne called it "the most idiotic decision he'll ever make".

The news prompted many people to comment on social media.

O'Reilly is now facing a two year ban from the sport.

All Cork eyes will be on Gary and Paul O'Donovan today.

American swimming legend Michael Phelps now has an incredible 21 Olympic gold medals - after winning two more on day four in Rio.

He reclaimed the 200-metres butterfly title - then helped the USA finish first in the 4-by-200-metres freestyle relay - ahead of Team GB.

Phelps is the most decorated Olympian ever - having won 25 medals in total so far.

Blarney defeated St Finbarr's 0-20 points to 2-11.

And Valley rovers defeated Bishopstown 2-20 to 0-13 points.
