Tiger Woods "awake, responsive and recovering" following surgery
Tiger Woods has had a "long surgical procedure" on his lower leg and right ankle, after being removed from his car by paramedics.
The 15 time major champion was involved in a single vehicle collision in Los Angeles.
A statement on Woods' Twitter account says that the 45 year old underwent a lengthy surgery on his lower right leg and ankle, and that he is "awake, responsive and recovering" following the procedure.
His car hit a tree and rolled over several times, while fire crews managed to free him from the car through the windshield.
Local sheriff Alex Villanueva says there was no evidence he'd taken drink or drugs, but says there were no signs of skid marks.
"They [Woods] were going at a relatively greater speed than normal, however because it's downhill, and it curves, that area has a high frequency of accidents, it's not uncommon."
