Angry Farmers To Stage Protest Outside Aldi in Mitchelstown Later

They're appealing to retailers to come to the talks table

It comes as talks are due to take place between the Department of Agriculture, farmers and meat factories tomorrow in an effort to resolve the long running beef dispute

Farmers, who are members of the Beef Plan Movement, have chosen to picket Aldi as they're frustrated by the German supermarket's re-labelling of Irish beef in their stores as 'processed in the UK'

Many processing plants here have been forced to wind-down production because of the ongoing protests by farmers.
Bord Bia is being urged to clarify the Irish certification as the beef has been processed in a meat plant outside the country

Speaking to RedFM News Ger Dineen of the Beef Plan Movement says farmers staged a lightning protest outside Musgraves and have vowed to escalate their protests until retailers agree to enter into talks
