Anti-lockdown protests will be focus of meeting between Garda representatives and Commissioner

An anti-lockdown demonstration is planned for Cork City on Saturday, however organisers say they do not want a repeat of the violent scenes in Dublin last weekend.
The gathering left three Gardaí injured and led to 24 arrests, with one man currently in custody in connection to a firework attack on officers.
He is due to appear in court this morning.
The People's Convention say the protest in the City is to highlight the need to open up businesses and end the 'scare mongering' and say they will not be issuing any guidance on the wearing of face covering.
Former Garda Sergeant, Christy Galligan, says Gardaí will be working to ensure there isn't a repeat of events in the capital:
"They'll have their Cyber Crime Units and their National Intelligence, and the digital intelligence units in Garda headquarters working on this and probably have been for the last number of weeks, anyway. So they'll be well aware of what these groups are up to at the present moment in time, and they'll be looking at a risk assessment and drawing up plans how to counter these demonstrations."
