Anti-racism protest at US embassy to go ahead despite calls for it to be abandoned

An anti-racism protest at the US embassy is going ahead this Saturday, despite calls for it to be abandoned.

The Health Minister says the anti-racism march which took place earlier this week clearly breached social distancing guidelines.

A separate protest that was planned for Monday has been called off, but one scheduled for the weekend organised by MASI, Black Pride Ireland and MERJ Ireland, is taking place.

The demonstrations have been sparked by the killing of George Floyd in America.

Minister Simon Harris is urging organisers to cancel the events in the interest of public health.
