Concerns that new coronavirus variant found in Vietnam could turn up in Ireland

The country's seen a new jump in infections and it appears to be a mix of the mutations first found in India and in Kent
Professor of Health Systems at DCU, Anthony Staines, says the current vaccines work very well against the Indian variant but there could be more on the horizon:
"The UK data for example shows that two doses of any vaccines provides very substantial protection against the Indian variant b 1617.2, which is fantastic. What we worry about is there are variants out there, we haven't seen yet. That may be resistant to the vaccines or may cause more severe illness."
