Cork and Kerry have the lowest rates of infection in the country - 15 new COVID19 cases recorded in Cork

A further 359 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed - the lowest daily figure since mid-December.

14 additional deaths have also been recorded.

There are 498 people with the disease in hospital, of which 116 are in ICU.

Ireland's 14 day incidence rate is now 201 cases per 100,000 people.

Offaly and Longford currently have the highest rates of infection in the country, while Cork and Kerry have the lowest.

NPHET member, Dr. Mary Favier, says the fall in daily cases is great news; "I think so many people will look at this and say, yes it's been slow, yes it's been hard but we are getting there. And it may bump up again tomorrow. But I think that the trend is down, and the trend is that everybody's trying and everybody's doing a really good job, and while the odd person doesn't obey the rules, vast majorities of us are doing what we need to do."
