Cork traders say shoppers will adapt quickly to changes

Shoppers returning to Cork city on Monday will notice a number of changes but traders believe they will quickly adapt.
The English Market is one of the few centres that has remained open during the pandemic, with some traders operating reduced hours and social distancing guidelines being strictly adhered to.
Shops are set to reopen in the city next week, operating staggered opening hours and they must have allocated time for vulnerable customers...
Cork Chamber says the return of retail will provide a boost for Cork's high streets and people are being encouraged to support their local business community.
Speaking to RedFM News Pat O'Connell from the English Market, describes how the market has been operating over the last few weeks.
"The Market has been pretty much an oasis in the middle of it really, it's probably the place that's traded best over the last number of months.
"We've managed to keep it open but we've had to adapt - we have management of people outside the gates, we have management of people inside the gates, and we're taking measures with our staff to make sure they have two metres.
"In our particular case we put our staff on a three day week but they work a longer day, but at least we make sure there's only half the staff behind the counter to give them the two metre space they need."
