Details Of New Restrictions Announced Around Covid 19 Unveiled

Taosieach says we have to flatten the curve once again in our battle against this deadly and ever changing virus and people should stay at home where possible

In Brief:

* Schools have been closed until 31st January 2021 

* Special education to continue with protections, Leaving cert students attend class for 3 days per week with remote learning for these students on the remaining two days 
- Education Minister Norma Foley says she’s “very conscious” of the need to deliver the Leaving Cert in June

* Childcare to remain open for vulnerable children and the children of essential workers

* Only essential construction to continue until at least the end of January 

* Click and collect at all non essential retailers to cease.

* Passengers from Britain and South Africa will now need to have a negative PCR test for Covid 19 

* The February cuts to PUP will not go ahead, both PUP and EWSS will remain at current rates at least until the end of March

Taoiseach asks the public to "hunker down, stay home, follow the rules and get this virus under control"

Tanaiste says we need to "slow this virus, prevent it's spread and that's why people need to stay at home"
