Education Minister says Leaving Cert students should sit the written exam

The education minister says Leaving Cert students should sit the written test this summer.
Last year pupils all received calculated marks after the traditional exam was cancelled.
This year, students will be able to sit the Leaving Cert and also receive calculated marks, being credited with whichever is highest.
Norma Foley says she wants students to do the exam; "It would be at my absolute preference and determination if at all possible to encourage as many students as possible to take the written exams in June as well. I think by students having an opportunity to avail of both, they have an opportunity to make the best of their opportunities and to make the best of their situation so I think, I think that would be a positive step forward"
