Former Senator to the Diaspora says Taoiseach should head to Washington for St Patrick's Day

The Taoiseach should head to Washington for St Patrick's Day, according to a former Senator to the Diaspora.

Some opposition TDs have criticised the potential visit saying it would send the wrong message as both countries deal with the Covid pandemic.

Former Senator Billy Lawless says a trip to the White House is hugely important, "We are the only country in the world that has the access to the White House on their national day.
