Group that speaks for aviation workers is urging NPHET to reconsider antigen testing

Chief Medical Officer is opposed to the use of the tests for travel to and from Ireland, despite their widespread use in other countries

Recover Irish Aviation claims they're key to securing the future of the industry and Ireland's global connectivity in the wake of the Stobart Air collapse.

Spokesperson Alan Brereton says Ireland is lagging behind the rest of Europe in restarting air travel:

"Many European governments as many as 20 have fully embraced and adopted rapid antigen testing for the purposes of travel, rapid antigen tests have been quoted by world experts like Professor Michael MENA of Harvard as the way forward for aviation, they've been adopted by the United States and the UK, yet for some reason Ireland has maintained its outlier position, the effect of that is that we are unnecessarily delaying the existence of the Irish people on Irish aviation out of this pandemic."
