India Reports More Than 4,000 Covid Deaths In 1 Day For First Time

Experts in the country say the actual number of people dying could be much higher
India has been struggling to cope with the current wave of infection - with hospitals overwhelmed.
Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, director general of the World Health Organisation, says every nation needs to be wary:
"In many countries, the emergence of rapidly spreading variants, combined with premature easing of public health, of social measures and the inequitable distribution of vaccines is having tragic consequences."
