Industry figures say the tourism sector is set to suffer a dire summer for the second year in a row

EU member states hope to agree on Covid vaccine certs by mid-June.

 

But Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said international travel is unlikely to resume before August at the earliest.

CEO of B&B Ireland Helena Healy says this will be devastating for the industry.

"Business is dire, to be honest, you know, two years without a business for any tourism business is very serious, so you know, while there is an understanding as to why this is happening from a COVID management point of view, from a tourism business point of view it is it is very, very disappointing"
