Ireland Might Not Be Able To Roll Out EU Covid Travel Certificate Until Mid-August

A deal was reached during the week on the digital pass, which will open up travel in Europe this summer

It will allow for anybody living in the EU's 27 member states to secure a cert by the end of June.

However, Shona Murray, Europe correspondent with EuroNews, says it's likely people in Ireland will have to wait longer:

"There is a transition period for countries that aren't ready technically to offer this. And Ireland is, I think, pretty much the only country that may avail of that six week transition period. Ireland may not have it available to citizens until mid-August. That's not confirmed, that's just possibly what the Irish government may have to do. Part of that is because the ransomware attack, technically speaking, does take up quite a bit of time."
