NPHET has been advised to follow a cautious and gradual approach to lifting restrictions on mass gatherings

HIQA has recommended that measures should be eased first for seated outdoor events, with significantly reduced capacity.

The Authority notes that not all mass gatherings carry the same level of risk and a blanket ban is not necessary.

However, it says infection levels, vaccination coverage and the capacity of the healthcare system should be taken in to account.
