Number Of Covid-19 Patients In Public Hospitals Halves In Past Month

It dropped to 111 last night - the lowest since September 27th

Four hospitals have only one Covid patient and seven have none at all.

Former HSE director-general, Tony O'Brien, says he expects the sharp decline to continue over the next month or so:

"I think once we get down to most of the people over 40 having been vaccinated, we should then at the same time see a reduction in the number of daily cases. Then the number of people in hospital could halve from its current figure; that's to be hopeful. And then progressively, we should get to the point where very few people indeed are being hospitalised."
