Parents say school closures are impacting secondary school students more than primary school children

Figures from the CSO show that almost half of respondents with a child in fifth or sixth year say school closures has had a "major negative impact" on their learning

Secondary school children are spending more than twice as much time remote learning now than they did when schools first closed in March.

Figures from the CSO show that seven in ten students between first and fifth year spend more than five hours a day completing learning activities.

During the first school closures last year, just 33 percent spent that much time on schooling.

Despite this, more than a third of parents say school closures have had a "major negative impact" on their teenagers' education.
