Recruitment And Retention Of Staff "Huge Strain" On Businesses Ahead Of Next Week's Reopening

Personal services are allowed return on Monday along with click and collect, while retail will fully reopen the following week

Sam Donnelly, who owns seven barber shops in Dublin, says being closed for such a long period has created huge staffing challenges:

"We've had a good 14 months with stop-start. Unfortunately, our government point-blank refused to recognise that there was a black market economy within the hair and beauty industry over the last 14 months. And what that has led to, is an awful lot of people within the industry, building a fairly robust client list. And now with the next reopening, they are confident enough not to go back to the workplace because there's no incentive."
