Sexual Assault Treatment Unit in Cork deals with 24 cases of rape since COVID19 restrictions imposed

The Sexual Assault Treatment Unit Leeside have dealt with 24 cases of rape since lockdown restrictions were imposed.
Management at the Sexual Violence Centre say it challenges the misconception that rape only happens after alcohol consumption on nights out.
It follows recent figures which show a 40% increase in calls to Women’s Aid since March.
